Excerpt from 'The Rise of the Republic' as written by Maryn Cillanus:

The prophet spoke words of wisdom to what might one day become merely a small fragment of the Kebeyen council, and they were heeded, for they were the voice of true truth spoken by one who saw with the eyes of Tallus, but lacked the failings of the dead prime. The prophet spoke of prosperity for the realm, a golden age for all of Calenndor, further inspiring their minds and alighting the spirits of these individuals. The Republic would rise in prominence, becoming as Aractha of old, though without the failings of the past, for they were aware of the mistakes their ancestors had made and could learn from them. He spoke and said that all those who breathed, and lived, and died with the land would unite one day behind the banners of The Republic but in that day the nation would become no more, it would become greater incorporating all the Freelands of Calenndor to fight a greater evil.

To each of those he spoke to, he persuaded with silver tounge, before presenting a gift to each as they stood before him, so that they might best fulfill the prophecy, and they listened, they listened and obeyed his urgings before the day he vanished. To the master of the intricacies and decisions that came with protecting a nation, to Eryn Mazus of Xanthia he granted a gift akin to his own, though fixated upon the mundane rather than the ethereal, he gave him vision as no mortal furre before him had borne. To Mistress Miranda D'Houln of Ansteorra, he gave nothing but wishes of her well-being in the coming years for she would have nothing else, of iron-will and her path set firmly before her, she shunned his gifts, though she loved the prophet as none other could, though the prophet could not return such a thing. To General Hedon Bloodknife he gave the strength of body and mind to endure the trials that would be set before him as the leader of the militaristic portions of the Liberation Army, to be the blade that would strike first into the Freelands, and then become the backbone that would support a nation.

To the Rising Phoenix, the prophet spoke long, for many days to grace their minds with knowledge, thoughts that blended into the tapestry of their charge, they would be peacekeepers and guards, they would have only one master upon the planes of mortality, and that master would be the leader in all these endeavours up to now. Upon his death their charge would be completed, but only to begin the second, to them he entrusted the future of the Republic, and in fact all of the Freelands when the nations joined together finally in unity. For this heavy charge he imparted his wisdom, to various individuals amongst the number of the Rising Phoenix, though not all for he had his own choices that did not always correspond with those chosen for the honour. Finally he imparted a gift upon Damien Reelin of Valanthas, the prophet granted him the foundations of an empire along with the burden to fulfill the prophecy, also bequethed upon the feline was the title Sanctus Vir, and through this title he would command the Rising Phoenix.

Burdened with the wisdom and what seemed nigh on an impossible task they still continued their tasks, though charged to keep what they now had secret, even from each other, they obeyed the prophet, before he dissapeared into the mists of whatever place he had emerged from and the forces of the Liberation Army again took up arms though their commanders be burdened with new knowledge demanding peace, they rode for Launcia, home of dwarves and paladins. Behind them lay the ruins of Ciest Dalien and a nation broken of it's will to fight, truly a sorrowful sight were those once proud individuals who signed the unconditional surrender of New Austia, relinquishing their claim to the land taken in the War of Liberation, in exchange for their continued independance, a copy of that surrender will be forever enshrined within this tome for the purpose of historical accuracy...

Citizens wishing to remain within the borders of the New Austian nationhood, will be allowed to do so under an independant banner, free to govern themselves without the interferance of a foreign governing body, providing that any wishing to abandon their previous nationality to support the conquering body will be free to do so, without fear of persecution. Failure to comply with such a demand, should be considered an act of war upon the conquering nation and will be treated accordingly, with the recipient laying no claim to the moral high ground. In addition, for purposes of internal security and defence, New Austia will be permitted to retain their soldiers, in exchange for this liberty, upon request the government of this nation will be required to aid in militaristic matters performed by the conquering force.

Trade between the two nations will be permitted, to aid in economic regrowth, however no Austian citizen shall be permitted to bear arms within the conquering nation's boundaries regardless of intents and the purpose behind possessing such items, the purpose behind this being simply to protect the citizens of the foreign nationality. In exchange, the conquering force will provide escort to any caravan or convoy moving forth from Austian soil, protecting them from harm to the best of their ability. Failure to abide by this will be punishable by imprisonment or death by hanging.

New Austia will also pay a tribute no less than 5% in crops and gold gathered through taxes at the end of each fiscal year...
